Busy Wednesday!

Trip to the Landfill ♽
This morning the class went out to the landfill to see where our trash goes and why we should recycle. First, we went into the weighing station to better understand how the process works. We learned that trucks must weigh-in before and after. We also learned that around 50 trucks come a day!
Top Left: Recycling truck leaving after being weighed.               Top Right: This is a baler that smashes the cardboard.
Middle Left: Learning about the old landfill hole.                        Middle Right: Learning about the weighing station.
Botton Left: Bales of cardboard                                                    Bottom Right: Bales of paper

Video of the baler- each bale of cardboard is around 1,300-1,500 pounds!

🚒:  Fire Prevention Day 🔥
A huge thank you to the Clarinda Fire Department for teaching the kids fire safety. The firemen showed/told them students what they should do during a fire. They also got the opportunity go in the safe house, see inside a firetruck, and look at all the equipment. We had a great time learning how to be safe!
